Have you ever wondered who Jesus is – and why it matters anyway? Well, that’s a good place to start, and here at All Saints we run a Christianity Explored course once or twice a year, and over seven weeks you are able to investigate for yourself by checking out whether what we talk about in church is truth or fiction! This course is not just run at All Saints – it originated in London at All Souls Church, Langham Place over ten years ago and put together by a team there including Rico Tice, who presents the DVD, and is now run in churches throughout the UK and beyond.
The course is for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity informally with a small group of other people. Whether you have previous experience of Church, Christians and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. Everyone is welcome. We respect backgrounds, cultures and beliefs and anyone who comes can ask any question they like and we have had a fascinating variety of questions thrown at us over the years! But nobody is under any obligation to speak if they would rather not, nor is anyone asked to read aloud, pray or sing!
The evening starts with refreshments of tea, coffee, cakes and puddings, then continues by looking at a Bible passage from the Gospel of Mark, followed by a short DVD, finishing with discussion of two or three questions resulting from the DVD.
Our main course is in January each year and we hope this year to offer another one as well – starting in May on Wednesday evenings. We expect to use the new, “streamlined”, DVD, due out in May, which will replace the one that has been in use for the past 8 years and will be run over 7 weeks, and there is no charge for this course. Think about it and maybe come and join us!
